Abracadabra isnβt just something hokey magicians say at kidβs birthday parties. Itβs a genuine incantation to ward off malaria and other ailments, and was used in protection talismans. The origins of the word are theorized to be Hebrew or the magic word abraxas.
Pazuzu (ππ ππͺπͺ) is the ancient Mesopotamian king of wind demons. Heβs responsible for storms, drought, famine, and locusts. Though evil himself, Pazuzu is invoked on amulets to drive away other evil spirits, like the malicious goddess Lamashtu.
